Scientific Games Wins 10-year Iowa Lottery Contract
Scientific Games Corporation (SGMS) announced on April 7 that the company won a new 10-year contract with the Iowa Lottery. Scientific Games will provide a new statewide gaming system for the 2,400 retail locations where Iowa Lottery games are sold. Over the last eight years, Scientific Games has helped the Iowa Lottery to increase sales by an average of $109 million per year. The new gaming system will launch in the summer of 2021, and the contract could be extended an additional five years. Scientific Games also provides instant scratch games to the Iowa Lottery.
Sonal detected the event at 4:10 pm, and the next trade took place at 4:11 pm for $7.48. The stock price spiked above $8 after the market open the next day before experiencing a pullback in the first hour of trading. The price, however, continued to push higher over the remainder of the day to close at $8.85 with an event-day gain of 18%.
